What does it mean to you to be a student-athlete at the Fox School of Business?

It is such an honor and a privilege to represent the Fox School in athletics. Fox has afforded me numerous opportunities and has taught me so many life lessons like the importance of time management and working under pressure.

What was your decision process like when choosing to attend Fox?

When I first came to campus, I actually didn’t know what I wanted to do post-graduation. I started out as a criminal justice major but felt lost and confused about my future. I was incredibly fortunate to have some upperclassmen teammates at the time who were Fox students. They made me aware of the opportunities the business school could offer to me. I did more research and ultimately made the switch to Fox, which is one of the best decisions I made as a student.

How has the Fox School supported your pursuits as a student-athlete?

The support by Fox is very noticeable and genuine. I felt that support immediately upon coming to Temple and am grateful for the ways they taught me to balance the heavy scheduling between athletics and full course load. Now, as an upperclassman, I can also reflect on how supportive my professors have been, too. I’ve had faculty come to my games to support me, ask about opponents—it shows that the faculty are approachable and makes attending class very enjoyable because they truly care about your well-being.

How will your student-athlete experience benefit you beyond your time at Temple?

I definitely felt that being a Fox student-athlete helped me secure an amazing internship in Center City (with Lockton Companies) That internship helped me secure key risk management experience needed for when I look to enter the industry. Throughout the interview process, I discussed my time management skills, teamwork and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment—all professional elements I will also utilize beyond graduation.

What would you say to a prospective student-athlete who is considering coming to Temple?

Becoming a student-athlete at Fox was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I would not be where I am today without the business school and the athletic department. My overall experience has taught me the most crucial lessons of working hard, perseverance and the confidence to pursue my career goals. I would recommend coming to Temple to any prospective student-athlete—I could not have asked for more out of my experience.

What academic and athletic goals do you have for this year?

Since this was my last year of collegiate soccer, I just wanted to have fun and really take in the experiences of it all. Division I soccer is the top collegiate playing level—it can be intense and sometimes overwhelming, but I wanted to enjoy every moment of the season and look back on it with no regrets. I am so grateful to all my coaches and teammates, so I wanted to keep making life-long memories. From an academic perspective, especially as I begin to focus on my professional development, I want to continue building a strong network and working hard in my classes.
