MAcc 10th cohort readying for graduation

The Fox Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program is celebrating its 10th anniversary in an unusual year due to COVID-19. All classes have been virtual for the fall and spring semesters. The 10th cohort MAcc students have adjusted to the virtual environment, but are looking forward to changes this summer.

“We plan to move to a hybrid delivery of courses in the summer semester as restrictions have been lifted,” says Sheri Risler, MAcc program director. “Many students are looking forward to returning to some sense of normalcy and to meeting their classmates in person.”

Students have benefitted from diverse and engaging colloquiums all delivered virtually. During the spring 2021, MAcc students learned from a variety of accounting and business professionals, including some that they would not have otherwise been available for in person lectures.

An impressive list of accounting and business professionals met virtually with the cohort including:

  • Harris Devor, CPA and Brian Duffy, CPA, partners from Friedman LLP about forensic accounting
  • Al Chiaradonna, senior vice president of SEI Wealth Management on career management
  • Allison Henry, CPA, vice president of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants(PICPA) on professional ethics
  • Mike Cairns, CPA, Matt Van Buren, CPA and Cameron Becote from Grant Thornton on innovations in auditing
  • Raman Mahadevan CPA, partner at Ernst & Young, about taxes in the age of COVID-19
  • Jennifer L. Gibbons, Associate Director, Division of Enforcement and Investigations at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) on the changing role of the PCAOB

MAcc students are also focused on completing their next part of the CPA exam and starting jobs in the fall 2021. An impressive 98% of students have secured post-graduation employment, and over 50% will be headed to Big Four firms. Twenty eight students will start their careers in audit positions, while 14 will enter the tax practice and four students will enter advisory practices. See where they are heading below.
