Technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the recruiting landscape. The Fox School’s Center for Student Professional Development (CSPD) works to ensure students have access to the best tools to prepare for the world of digital recruiting.
“In addition to CSPD’s personalized in-person and virtual services, we have incorporated ‘tech tools’ to assist students with resume development, LinkedIn profile optimization and interview preparation,” says Corinne Snell, assistant dean of student professional development at the Fox School.
“These are (expensive) subscription-based platforms that are free to our students,” Snell explains.
Here are just some of the tools students can take advantage of, available via the CSPD Technology Resource Library.
VMock: A career preparation platform that helps students enhance their resumes using data analytics, language processing and artificial intelligence to simulate how a recruiter views a resume.
- Students upload their resumes and get instant feedback based on 100+ critical parameters using the Fox signature resume format.
- They receive an objective resume score along with targeted, personalized guidance they can use to improve.
- Students can then increase their resume score by making changes based on targeted recommendations on presentation, language and skills.
The VMock SMART Editor Platform automatically converts a student’s resume into the Fox School signature format. Its SMART Editor uses machine learning engines to scan a student’s resume to offer instant and targeted sample suggestions for each resume bullet. The Editor tool provides secure 24/7, real-time guidance that helps make the resume stand out to maximize job search outcomes.
Using AI, the VMock Aspire LinkedIn optimization tool helps students improve their LinkedIn profile regarding content, skills and visibility. It provides instant suggestions to improve one’s profile elements for targeted careers and shares sample suggestions and analytics to strengthen the search engine ranking.
Job Scan: This online analysis tool tells job seekers how to optimize their resumes for specific job postings and get past resume robots. Temple students have unlimited access to this platform by creating an account using their Temple University email address.
Big Interview: This platform is a free virtual interview software that provides Temple students with hands-on practice through mock interviews tailored to a specific industry, job and experience level.
Forage: This program offers bite-sized, five to six hours of virtual work experience programs that provide a genuine career advantage with Fortune 500 companies. Students can explore programs in technical consulting, data analytics, cyber security management, investment, human resources and many more.
