How do you describe your college experience?

We asked current Fox students of all years to share three words to sum up their time at the Fox School. As you can see, each person has their own perspective. Four students—with majors ranging from finance to marketing, from risk management and insurance to real estate— elaborate on the meaning behind why they chose their three words.

I chose these three words because both the Finance and Accounting Departments have provided me with everything I could have asked for in my college experience. Through my involvement in the Fox Fund, Willliam C. Dunkelberg Owl Fund, Temple Finance Association, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and the Fox Accounting Association, I have risen to leadership roles, expanded my network, learned the technical aspects of finance and accounting, and applied what I learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

Through all that I’ve learned in these opportunities, I landed an investment banking internship for both my sophomore and junior years. The Fox School of Business has helped me more than I can express and if you are a student looking to succeed, it can do the same for you!

I chose these three words because by the time I graduate, I will look back on my educational and experiential career feeling fulfilled. My time at Fox has tested my skills, confidence and motivation. However, it was passion that ultimately prevailed. With every challenge, I continued to remind myself that what I love doing isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.

From all the professional and social opportunities I had the privilege of taking, and all of the illustrious people I have met along the way, I feel a sense of satisfaction.

I think back to when I was a senior in high school. I was unaware of the industry I’d enter into; of the fast-paced, fulfilling yet challenging world I’d be a part of; of the person I would grow into. I completely changed the idea of who I thought I was by focusing on what I loved, which concurrently allowed me to develop as both a human and professional in the process.

I chose this three-word phrase because of the support I have received from Professor David Wilk. He has taken the time to get to know me and both my professional and personal interests. He has connected me with numerous real estate professionals and opportunities to expand my education and career. He has also helped me find resources for scholarships, courses and jobs.

I chose these three words because I was a freshman during the pandemic with only a few clubs and sports on my resume. I wanted to change that. I focused on new opportunities and applying to anything in Handshake that interested me. From the Dean’s Student Advisory Council to Fox College Council to the Association for Information Systems, my time on Handshake paid off because I spent the summer after my freshman year interning with Wawa’s Welcome America Festival. These few experiences kickstarted my college career and helped me build a professional network. Fox has helped me tap into so many different parts of the tech industry while also gaining more experience as a leader and what it means to work as a team.

When looking at my resume now, I feel proud and empowered by everything I have to show for myself. Overall, Fox has helped me find and take hold of opportunities, build and grow my network and enjoy college with my best friends at my side.
